Image
Forget about Cyber Monday and Black Tuesday. I am thankful for Giving Tuesday! It gives us a chance to contribute to make the world a better place. Today I gave to the  No Limits For Deaf Children . This group has a speech center  in Southern California and Las Vegas as well as an acclaimed National Theater Program for deaf and hard of hearing children. I was blessed to voluneer and be part of Silent NO MORE with my daughter Liz. This inspiring collection of stories read by indivuals with hearing loss helped educate people on what its like to grow up deaf. Please share your #GivingTuesday charity story in the comments. Let's see how much good we can all do today! It feels joyful to give!

On July 20, my daughter Liz and I shared our stories in the powerful No Limits Theater Group production of "Silent-No-More" to a sold out show at the Long Island Children's Museum. My daughter Liz shared her story of what it was like to grow up deaf in a hearing world and about her dreams of becoming a film director. I was asked to provide a parent's perspective. I am so thankful to Michelle Christie the founder of No Limits for asking us to participate in this groundbreaking show. I spoke from the heart about what it was like to be a musician raising a deaf daughter. In addition to the theater program No Limits runs a speech therapy program that allows low-income children in Los An

Sunday was a beautiful sunny breezy day to graduate on the football field. It was a joyful day as I watched my daughter Liz walk up to receive her high school diploma. The moment was special for her, in the distance I saw her wipe away a tear as she walked back to her seat on the football field. Congratulations to all the graduates of the class of 2013! You are our future and have the power to change and shape our world for goodness. Here is what I was thankful for on Sunday! Thanks to all the teachers and therapists who have helped Liz over the years! Liz is deaf and uses a cochlear implant to hear. She received her implant at age 4 from Dr. Parisier who started the amazing Children's Hearing Institude! I also owe thanks to Dr. Roland from the NYU coclear implant center who did a revision after she had
