Tips for starting gratitude, meditation and reading habits in 2021!

My little gratitude night journal Make your own gratitude journal My husband gave me this small notebook for Christmas as a stocking stuffer. I decided to decorate it with some small doodles. I keep this on my night table, and am channeling the great Oprah Winfrey by writing down what I am grateful for each night. My gratitude list includes kindnesses I have received from family, friends or even strangers, simple joys I have witnessed, a home cooked meal, letting go of something that was not right for me. Its big ideas and small observations. The sky is the limit to what you can be grateful for even on a bad day. I list 4 gratitudes for the day! It helps you focus on what is good and possible in your life. If I miss a day, I just start again. Tips for starting new habits for 2021! I was inspired by Gretchen Rubin's #read21in21 challenge! I love reading and its been fun following the tag on Instagram to read short book reviews of what other people are reading for fun and inspiration...

Sharingthanks for Adirondack Rock Dog Sculptures and the Northcreek Mosiac Project

Image
I was so thankful to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with my immediate family in my parents country house in the beautiful Adirondack mountains. Our small gathering of 6 reached out to family celebrations over zoom. We enjoyed playing games, eating turkey and watching the fire from the wood-burning stove, I enjoyed taking quiet social distanced walks in the sleepy historic ski town of Northcreek, NY. When you are in the Adirondack's you can spot a fair number of adorable dog rock sculptures. I enjoyed seeing this rock dog on Main Street in Northcreek over the weekend.  Love the creative folks that find the rocks to build them. They bring a smile to anyone who sees them. There is a fantastic public art mosaic project that was designed and completed by artist Kate Hartley recently. It features all of the wonderful adventures that await you in this mountain area, white-water rafting, hiking, fishing, skiing, and snowshoeing. Ms. Hartley had the idea to transform a blank concr...

Sharing Thanks for walking the High Line in Spring in NYC

Image
Thanks to the stranger who took this picture of me and my good friend I love Spring in Manhattan. Although I live in the suburbs one of my favorite things to do is to spend a Saturday in New York. I love exploring the city. I am lucky to know kindred friends to share in my NYC adventures. One of the best free things to do in the city is to walk on the High Line. We took the train into the city and got on the High Line on 32nd street and 11th ave. The high line offers great views of the Hudson River. At one point you can actually catch a glimpse of Lady Liberty! I love all the public seating, installation art and beautiful architecture you see on this trail. I love that you are above the traffic and the new perspective from being elevated. It was wonderful to celebrate this top ten Spring Day with a good friend. I love this picture a stranger took of us with all the wonderful spring pinks and greens. At the end of the Highline you can see the new Whitney Museum building and all the ...

Sharing thanks for Loon Lake

Image
My dad, taking us for a boat ride on Loon Lake! I realized I have been blogging a lot about being by the water. I guess that makes sense since I am an Aquarius. Loon Lake in the Adirondacks is one of my favorite places to boat, swim, kayak, and jump off the dock to feel like I'm 11 again. My daughter Becky wanted to spend sometime upstate since she missed our July 4th outing. I enjoyed another girls only road trip up to the Adirondacks. Here is what I was thankful for! Thanks to my parents who watched my dog Oreo for us while we were in Chicago. Oreo liked the freedom of running around their 1 acre mowed yard at the country house. I am sure my parents cats, Beauty and Mittens were happy to see Oreo go home! Thanks to my parents for taking us out to the Stony Creek Inn for some music and Mexican food. One of the great things about living in the Adirondacks is all the great free live music that you can see. We enjoyed listening to a great blues band the John Heely Band. It is ...
