Create a Sharing Thanks Journal with someone to cultivate a Grateful Heart

I am very thankful for this very special Christmas gift given to me by my daughter Liz. She made me a Sharing Thanks Journal. I love her heart design and the picture of us she printed to adorn the inside of this very special journal. The best gift of all was that we used the journal together to practice gratitude. She wrote the first entry listing four things she was thankful for and passed the journal back to me. We use the journal to share what we are thankful for. It has helped me practice gratitude and has helped me and my daughter connect on a deeper level. It is wonderful to have a dialogue where we share our blessings. I love writing my thanks and sharing what brings me joy. It could be a beautiful sunset, or a kind smile a stranger gave me. I love learning about what my daughter is thankful for. I recommend sharing a journal with someone special to help your gratitude practice. It will allow you to focus on counting your joys and help you connect to someone in a lo

Liz with her art work at the East Meadow District Art Show I love art and creative people. Everything we create was designed by an artist or an inventor who developed the skills to think outside of the box! Art lets us express our emotions and puts us in touch with our visual side! We need art teachers. Here is what I was thankful for today. Thanks to the art teachers who have helped hone my daughter's creative talent. Their kindness and patience is to be applauded. Thanks for feeding my daughter's creative spirit and soul! Thanks to my mom, who was an art and photography teacher. She fed my creative spirit and encouraged me to continue with my love of music. I love taking pictures for this blog. It helps me appreciate and capture a small moment of beauty. Thanks to my friend Stella! We had a lovely walk at Caumsett State Park and had fun walking by the scenic stables there. Thanks to twitter and NY Interns! My daughter Becky attended a screening of the new movie Inter

Pretty Pastel Colored Flowers   It is joyful to walk outside and enjoy the beautiful Spring weather. Yesterday was the first day of Spring Break. One of the most important lessons that I have learned in music and life are that rests are important. It's that small breathing space that can make a melody sing. It is great to be able to relax, sleep in and take a breather. Here is what I was thankful for yesterday. Melted crayon artwork to stop bullying, by Liz Davidson Thanks for creative expression! My daughter Liz had a friend over last night and they experimented with melting crayons to create some really cool pieces of art. Art can really help you get out your emotions. Liz was cyber-bullied by someone who hacked her facebook and posted messages of hate.  It was great to see Liz and Kavita enjoy making colorful masterpieces by hot glueing crayons to poster board and melting them safely with a blow dryer. Thanks to YouTube! I am amazed on what kids look up to learn using YouTube.
