Thankful for the zen of cats who can teach us how to find a sunny spot!

Sasha basking in the sunlight! Find your sunny spot! I love observing my cat in the winter who can always find the warmest sunniest spots in my house. What can we do during the winter to bask in the light available to us? How can we steal a few moments of calm and get into that relaxation mode? Here is my top 10 list. I love to hear what you do to let some sunshine in to warm up a winter day. Sit next to your cat and enjoy the sun's ray of light while you gently pet her.  Soak in a hot bath with a good book and a hot cup of tea. Pull up your blinds and draw the curtains and let the light shine in your home. Curl up on the sofa in your living room with a blanket. We have a blanket bin in our living room to enjoy cuddling up while we binge our favorite shows. Fire up the crock pot and make a delicious home made stew or soup. Plant an indoor herb garden.  Just breath! Breathe in energy. Exhale and release all your stress energy. Pour yourself a cup of coffee

White Wildflower at Norman Levy Park I had an epiphany at my morning meditation class today. At the end of the class which is held at our local library I heard the sound of a dog barking. It turned out to be someone's cell phone ringtone.  Sometimes my smart phone feels like a pavlovian dog. I jump everytime it rings, beeps, bells, and vibrates. We have all put ourselves on call 24/7 being available to the next facebook update, tweet, email, emergency, text, and phone call. When did we all become on call doctors to one another. The stress of being available to everyone all the time makes us jump when our phones vibrate!  I was thinking about what activities get me to turn off my phone. I turn off my phone for meditation class, for orchestra rehearsal, when I am at a play, or a movie. This got me thinking, I got that aha moment of clarity. I should turn off my phone when I am enjoying being out with my friends, at family gatherings, on my walks on the beach, or hikes in nature

Led by Ariel at the East Meadow Public Library Sometimes the best things in life are free! Take the time to see what your local library has to offer. Connecting with people in your community is in an easy way to enjoy your life. Being part of  a group can add energy to your life. I started my morning today in this amazing Meditation class. Here is what I am thankful for about meditating! I am thankful that Meditation allows me to sit in the quiet moment and focus on my breath! I focus on breathing in energy and breathing out a relaxing AHHHH! of stress. I am thankful that every week Ariel, the man who leads this Meditation class makes it new and interesting. The hour flies by and I applaud his efforts to provide new visualizations and affirmations everyweek.  You can visit Ariel's website at  Energy Shift Yoga . Find out about the free meditation class he offers on Saturday mornings at 9:30 am! I am thankful to have bathed in a rainbow of light during the meditation class
