Baskets of apple's at Jo Jo Apple's in Point Lookout I am here to report that their is kindness in the big city of Chicago! I have so many reasons to be thankful today. It is easy to write this blog post because my gratitude is over flowing today. Thank you to Gene!!! Gene found my daughter's wallet in a cab. He contacted my daughter's podiatrist in Chicago since it had a local phone number to report finding her wallet. The podiatrist called me to give me his contact info. Gene took the time to bring the wallet to my daughter at her apartment at Columbia College. He wanted to make sure Liz got the wallet because there was over $100 in the wallet along with her bank card. This random act of kindness will never be forgotten. I am grateful for all of the rebuilding that has been done at Long Beach. I went for a stroll on the new boardwalk yesterday. It was wonderful to see the people out enjoying the sunshine, a sparkling calm ocean, and this new beautiful wide boar

Waiting for the fireworks at Schroon lake.  I love being able to take vacation over the summer. Our family is so lucky to have a retreat in the Adirondack's. Over 20 years ago my parents bought a house in the country nestled in the Adirondacks next to a small stream. My kids have always loved visiting Grannie and Papa Ron in the country house. We were fortunate to be able to spend July 4th weekend upstate. Here is what I was thankful for! I was thankful for the patriotic upstate Adirondack spirit. You can see fireworks every night for a week in the country. All the small towns have July 4th celebrations, chicken barbecues, small parades. It was fun to see so many people at Schroon Lake dressed in red, white and blue! I was thankful to get parking at Schroon Lake. We were so lucky to get a good spot for an easy walk to the beach. I enjoyed getting there an hour early sitting by the lake, listening to "God Bless America" being sung by a local chorus. I loved watching

Sharing thanks for celebrating art!

Liz with her art work at the East Meadow District Art Show I love art and creative people. Everything we create was designed by an artist or an inventor who developed the skills to think outside of the box! Art lets us express our emotions and puts us in touch with our visual side! We need art teachers. Here is what I was thankful for today. Thanks to the art teachers who have helped hone my daughter's creative talent. Their kindness and patience is to be applauded. Thanks for feeding my daughter's creative spirit and soul! Thanks to my mom, who was an art and photography teacher. She fed my creative spirit and encouraged me to continue with my love of music. Dandelion wildflower at Norman Levy Preserve Last week I got to walk at one of my favorite parks the Norman Levy Preserve. It had closed for a while after hurricane Sandy. I was happy to see it open again and wanted to explore the park. I was thankful to be able to walk and look at the beautiful bays toward Jone's beach again. This huge dandelion caught my eye! I love bringing my camera to the park. This dandelion looked like a beautiful flower next to the purple wildflowers around us. We all need the courage to stand out. Our differences are what make us more beautiful! Here is what I was thankful for when taking my nature walk. Happy Earth day everyone! I was happy that the fishing pier at the park withstood the hurricane. I love walking out to the middle of the bay. Sometimes I will lie back on one of the park benches and enjoy meditating and breathing in the sea air. So refreshing! I was thankful to see the Nigerian goats. They got a new barn. They are green energy wor

Sharing thanks for beautiful clouds on a cold day!

Impressionistic Clouds. Makes me want to paint! I love finding something beautiful in an unexpected place. Let's play a game. Here is a question of the day! Guess where I took today's photo! Just list your guesses in the comments along with something you saw that was beautiful! I listen to the Pulse on XM radio in the mornings and they have a question of the day game with no prizes. I am always amazed how people enjoy just playing and calling in to see if they have the right answer. It is so important to play in life! I appreciate being around people who love to play! Here are my thanks for today! I am so thankful to get my car back from the dealer today. Last week I thought my car's engine was dying. I love my Honda Odyssey! We have had so many great road trips with this car that I was heart broken. Millennium Honda was able to diagnose the noise and it turned out to be a timing problem. I loved driving my car home today. It was so quiet and felt like a brand new car

Sharing thanks for serendipity and the power of kind words

Sunset in February in Target Parking Lot Do you ever feel like you are at the right place at the right time to offer a stranger some information that is helpful and comforting. I had this experience today while I was visiting my mother-in-law in the hospital. I am the type of person who loves to strike up conversations with people that cross my path. I was in the parking garage taking the elevator down and a gentleman who was from out of state needed assistance finding the lobby. He seemed shaken up, he was going to visit his brother who was having emergency bypass surgery. I was thankful that I could show him how to get to the hospital lobby and told him about my Dad's bypass surgery that was done at this hospital successfully almost 7 years ago. The man was so appreciative for a kind ear and help. Here are my thanks for today which was filled with a little serendipity. 1) So thankful for my daughter Becky who brightened my mother-in-law's day with a phone call. My mother

They also brought two little girls to see the Nutcracker. 2) Thanks to the two little girls who came to see the Nutcracker. When we took them home they treated us to some ballet in the living room . Seeing there adorable faces trying to dance and leap around the room was priceless. 3) Thanks to Karinna for tutoring my daughter Liz in Math. She is a positive wonderful tutor and is helping Liz gain confidence in geometry. 4) Thanks to a great audience tonight for the Nutcracker.
