Blue Hydrangea on a November Day Today's Challenge, is to go outside and take a walk and look for something beautiful that your thankful for.  Bring your phone or your camera and take a picture and share this beauty. Email me your picture at sharingthanks@gmail.com or Tweet it to me at  @sharingthanks  . Today I saw these beautiful Blue and Purple Hydrangea's. I am enjoying seeing these last blooms of November. Flowers always make me happy. Love these deep hues. I enjoy seeing the patterns of color and nature's wizardry. A few weeks ago I even saw some Monarch butterflies flittering around some wild flowers at the Norman Levy Preserve. When I see something beautiful, I take a moment to stop, look, and then breathe it in. It energizes me and I love taking pictures to capture this moment. Sometimes looking in my camera helps me focus to see the beauty. With the days getting shorter and cooler I relish being outside and capturing the colors of the changing season. I wa

Chalk art at Norman J. Levy Preserve Thankful for this beautiful end of summer weather with hints of Fall in the air. It was a top ten day on Long Island so I went for a 2 mile walk at the Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve. It felt great to just get outside. There is something soothing about being in nature. I love bringing my camera along and taking pictures to capture the joy of seeing a moment of beauty. I am listing my thanks today with the pictures I took of these small joys Water Lily Pond at the top of the Preserve I love this part of the park. They have a Monet like bridge overlooking the pond. I was happy to spot a few water lily blooms. After you walk around the pond I came across this incredible view. Great South Bay View from Norman Levy Park and Preserve I love the tranquility of this park. You pass a few kindred souls, walking or running in the park. I saw  someone enjoying the peace and reading a good book. It's lovely to smile and say hi to the few

Love this Tuscan garden I saw at the Hick's Flower Show! I'm sharing this little piece of heaven. One of my goals is to visit Tuscany and tour Italy. Two of my favorite films feature scenery from this beautiful area "A Room with a View" and "Letter's to Juliet." I enjoy visiting quiet places with natural beauty. Sometimes when I am visiting some of the parks on Long Island I am struck by the vast number of people that are walking, running with their ipods on. I love music very much but I invite you to turn your ipod off and to tune in to the natural music all around you in a quiet place. I was walking at the Norman Levy Preserve and once you get into the trail, man made noises disappear and you can listen to birds chorus, the sound of a soft bay breeze, the music of nature. Here is what I was thankful for: I was thankful for listening to the sounds of nature. Hearing bird calls, my footsteps on the path, and enjoying the peace that silence can brin

Pink Patterned Poinsettia's, January 9, 2012 It was a beautiful January Day on Long Island. After taking my daughter to school I decided to take a drive and commune with nature at the Planting Fields Arboretum. They have a greenhouse that is open to the public that has a wide array of orchids and is still decorated with an amazing number and variety of poinsettias. It is so important to spend some time outside in the winter, and soak up that vitamin D especially on a nice day. Here are my thanks for today. 1) Thanks for the public park at the Planting Fields Arboretum, which is free this time of year. I enjoyed walking at the old Coe Estate and spending some time in the fabulous lush greenhouse. 2) Thanks for the quiet peaceful serenity that I experienced there today. There are few places on Long Island where you can just listen and hear the soothing sounds of nature. 3) Thanks for the great musicians in the South Shore Symphony. We had are first rehearsal for this new yea
